Part Time (9am-5pm, Schedule TBD)
Pay: $19/hr

Ideal candidates for our showroom Retail team are committed to providing excellent customer service and ensuring our customers get the best information possible. This is a physically demanding position requiring lifting and loading 50lb boxes of clay onto hand trucks and into customer vehicles for the duration of your shift. Ceramics background is very helpful but not required to be successful in this position. We provide on the job training for employees and greatly appreciate employees with a desire to learn more about the world of ceramics.

Duties:

  • Cashiering via Lightspeed POS system on Mac computers
  • Inventory maintenance including stocking, receiving, counting
  • Providing outstanding customer service in person and over the phone
  • Communicating and coordinating with other departments
  • Assembling customer orders and providing load out for customers
  • Safe handling of dry ceramics materials using appropriate PPE including respirators
  • Material handling via hand trucks and forklift (training provided)
  • Light cleaning

Requirements:

  • Punctual attendance, report for your scheduled shift on time without unexcused absences
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to customer service
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, basic math skills required
  • Physically capable of safely lifting 50lbs repetitively. Able to stoop, bend, and walk and use ladders and stairs and to stand for extended periods of time
  • Self-starter, ability to recognize how to be productive without being micro-managed
  • Ability to communicate openly and transparently and work with a team effectively
  • Personal ownership of your position and professional accountability

Warehouse Fulfillment - Not Available
Hours: 
Full Time (9am-5pm, MON-FRI, 40hrs/wk)

Clay Art Center offers palletized shipping for bulk customers and the Warehouse team prepares and fulfills these orders with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency. Ideal candidates for the Warehouse team are detail oriented, committed to safety and can work independently as well as part of a team.

Duties:

  • Assembling and dispatching palletized orders via packing list and providing accurate fulfillment notes on paperwork
  • Maintaining warehouse organization and assisting with inventory control
  • Receiving inbound freight and relaying pack lists/bill of lading to other departments
  • Operation of a forklift, hand trucks and pallet jackets to move materials. Use of safe lifting practices when moving material by hand. Training provided for forklift operation
  • Provide assistance to delivery team as needed by riding along and assisting with unloads

Requirements:

  • Punctual attendance, report for your scheduled shift on time
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, basic math skills required
  • Physically capable of safely lifting 50lbs repetitively. Able to stoop, bend, and walk and use ladders and stairs and to stand for extended periods of time

Full Time (8am-6pm, TUES-FRI, 4x10 schedule, 40hrs/wk)
Pay: TBD

Ideal candidates for the Clay Production team are committed to the quality of our products, production safety and efficiency. Ceramics experience is not required to be successful in the Clay Production team but it is certainly helpful! Full Time schedule requires 10hr shifts, 4 days a week for a total of 40hrs.

Duties:

  • Safe and efficient production of wet clays using industrial mixing equipment
  • Building pallets of materials for batches and assisting the production team as directed
  • Assembling boxes, stamping clay info on boxes and prepping for packaging
  • Loading dry materials into mixer according to recipe
  • Pugging of clay into 25lb blocks, bagging and boxing
  • Maintaining a safe work space and observing safety regulations and best practices
  • Cleaning production equipment and general maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Operation of a forklift, handtrucks and pallet jacks to move material

Requirements:

Equipment Repair Technician - NOT AVAILABLE
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am - 5pm

Duties:

  • Diagnostics and repair of ceramics equipment, including: ceramic kilns, glass kilns, gas kilns, pottery wheels, pugmills, slab rollers, etc.
  • Traveling to do work on site in company vehicle or at our location in Tacoma, WA
  • Refurbishment of used equipment to prepare for resale
  • Generation of quotes for repair costs
  • Customer service – addressing repair related questions, troubleshooting and issues over the phone, email and in person
  • Moving equipment manually or by using forklift, hand truck, pallet jacks


Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Background check req’d
  • 25yrs of age or older for insurance – clean driving abstract required
  • Attention to detail and the ability to communicate and work with a team

Assembly and Order Fulfillment - NOT AVAILABLE

Duties:

  • Assembling/packaging our various types of clay extruding equipment and accessories
  • Finishing components using a variety of chemicals and tools including: drill press, grinders and belt sanders, basic hand tools and industrial solvents
  • Providing customer service to customers by providing instruction on use of equipment and help with resolving issues with orders
  • Fulfillment of orders: pick orders according to packing list, package them for shipment and generation of shipping labels
  • Communicating with suppliers/distributors/vendors to ensure flow of parts/materials
  • Maintaining stock of supplies necessary for assembly of products
