Local Delivery Policy
Revised 2026-02-25
These Local Delivery Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern all deliveries performed using our company-operated truck (“OT Delivery”). By placing an order that includes OT Delivery, the customer agrees to these Terms in full.
OT Delivery
Eligibility & Minimum Order Requirement
OT Delivery is offered solely at our discretion and is subject to eligibility requirements.
A minimum order quantity of 1000lbs is required for OT Delivery of bulk materials. Orders that do not meet the minimum requirement will be subject to non-standard delivery fee or may be declined service. Eligibility is subject to delivery location, route availability, scheduling capacity, product type, and operational considerations.
Clay Art Center reserves the right to decline delivery services based on operational, safety, logistical, or compliance considerations.
Delivery Area & Routes
OT Delivery is limited to our established service area within an approximate 40-mile radius of Clay Art Center:
- Primary Delivery Corridors:
- North/South between Edmonds to Olympia
- East/West between Bremerton and Issaquah
- Portland, OR (weekly; subject to change)
Delivery outside of these areas may not be offered and is considered on a per order basis. Additional lead times may apply depending on truck volumes. Routes, schedules, and service frequency may be modified or discontinued at any time without notice. Additional fees apply for non-land-based routes.
Order Processing, Lead Time & Order Completeness
The estimated lead time for OT Delivery orders is approximately three (3) weeks from order confirmation. Lead times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Lead times may be affected by product availability, manufacturing schedules, special-order items, and operational constraints.
Clay Art Center endeavors to ship orders complete whenever possible. However, we make no guarantee that all orders will ship complete. Partial shipments, substitutions, delays, or cancellations may occur at our discretion. Please inform us in advance if your order must ship complete. Please refer to our Sales Policy for more information regarding order processing.
Refunds, credits, or adjustments of delivery fees related to incomplete or delayed orders are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed.
Payment & Billing
All OT Delivery orders must be paid in full or have valid payment information or credit account on file prior to delivery. Delivery fees are non-refundable once an order has been loaded onto the truck. Additional charges may apply for extended unloading time, special handling, site complications, or delivery interruptions.
Scheduling & Delivery Windows
Delivery dates and windows are estimates only and are not guaranteed. Time-specific delivery appointments are not available. Missed or failed deliveries caused by customer unavailability, inaccessible delivery sites, or inaccurate delivery information may result in additional fees, delays, or cancellation. Excessive waiting time beyond a reasonable unloading period may result in additional detention or labor charges.
Site Preparation & Access
Customer is solely responsible for ensuring the delivery site is properly prepared, including but not limited to:
- Adequate clearance for equipment dimensions and weight
- Sufficient load-bearing surfaces
- Clear, unobstructed access from curb to drop location
- Availability of appropriate lifting equipment, ie: forklift, pallet jack, or loading dock if required
Failure to provide safe and adequate site conditions may result in refusal of delivery, delays, or additional fees.
Site Conditions & Driver Safety
Clay Art Center reserves the right to refuse, delay, or terminate delivery if site conditions are deemed unsafe. Customer is solely responsible for ensuring a safe delivery environment.
Unsafe conditions include, but are not limited to:
- Steep grades, stairs or unstable surfaces
- Obstructed access
- Aggressive animals
- Hazardous, hostile, or unsanitary environments
Unloading & Placement of Bulk Materials
All bulk material deliveries are unloaded by hand from the truck unless otherwise expressly agreed to in writing. Destination of delivery must have a clear path capable of accommodating a hand truck, no stairs permitted. Standard delivery includes inside delivery. Drivers are not required to place materials inside of or underneath storage areas such as workbenches. Clay Art Center is not responsible for damage to driveways, landscaping, surfaces, or structures resulting from site conditions, weight limitations, or access constraints.
Any deviation from standard delivery is not guaranteed and is performed solely at the driver’s discretion and may be refused for any reason, including safety or time constraints.
Stark Street Studios Drop Off Service
Orders begin processing and you are added to the delivery waitlist once payment has been received. In the event that stock sells out or is not available by the time payment is made or during fulfillment a refund will be issued for any items we cannot fulfill. Additions to existing orders are not possible and will require a separate order to be placed with separate payment for the additional items. We do our best to combine shipping but additions to orders will be sent at our discretion depending on where your existing order is in the process.
Stark St deliveries are scheduled as first come, first served according to our truck's weight limits and current delivery volume. There is a minimum one week lead time for Stark St orders. Shipments typically go down on Thursdays. Delivery volume, holidays and inclement weather may impact this schedule.
Please ensure we have a valid Phone # that can receive text messages. You will receive a delivery confirmation message via text the day before delivery and a delivery complete message via text once your order has been dropped off at Stark St Studios. Please pick up your order promptly. If you will not be available to pick up your order please promptly call 800-952-8030 to let us know once you receive your initial delivery confirmation message so we can reschedule your order.
Orders are dropped off at 2809 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97214. The drop off location is not locked/secured. Neither CAC or Stark St Studios are liable for theft of product, especially if they are left out overnight or for extended periods of time. The customer assumes all risk for using this service.
Equipment Delivery (Kilns, Wheels & Large Equipment)
Equipment delivery is a distinct service from bulk materials delivery and is subject to the following additional terms:
Kiln deliveries are unloaded and assembled in final destination; packaging disposal is provided. CAC does not provide electrical hookup, testing or calibration of kilns.
Other equipment such as pottery wheels, slab rollers, pugmills, etc. is delivery-only unless otherwise expressly agreed to in writing. Clay Art Center does not provide installation, assembly, calibration, electrical hookup, plumbing, venting, anchoring, testing or packaging disposal for these items. Equipment is delivered to a single ground-level drop location only, unless otherwise approved in writing.
Inspection, Acceptance & Transfer of Risk
Customers are responsible for inspecting all materials and equipment at the time of delivery. Any visible damage, shortages, or discrepancies must be clearly noted on the delivery receipt prior to signing. Signing the delivery receipt constitutes acceptance of the order as delivered. Title and risk of loss transfer to the customer immediately upon completion of delivery and acceptance.
Damages, Loss & Theft
Clay Art Center is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage occurring after delivery is completed. We are not liable for damage caused by improper storage, environmental exposure, weather, movement, installation, or handling after delivery. Responsibility for equipment transfers to the customer upon delivery and acceptance.
Discrepancies, Claims & Returns
Claims for concealed damage or discrepancies must be submitted in writing within 5 business days of delivery. Claims submitted after this period will not be accepted. All returns require prior approval and may be subject to restocking fees. Custom, special-order, bulk, and made-to-order materials and equipment are non-returnable unless otherwise approved in writing.
Weather, Force Majeure & Delays
Clay Art Center is not responsible for delivery delays or failures caused by events beyond our control, including but not limited to weather conditions, traffic incidents, road closures, labor shortages, acts of God, or government actions.
Such delays do not constitute grounds for cancellation, refund, or damages.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law Clay Art Center’s liability is limited to the invoiced value of the affected materials or equipment. Clay Art Center is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including loss of use, production delays, or lost profits.
Right to Refuse or Cancel Service
Clay Art Center reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or cancel OT Delivery at any time for any reason, including non-compliance with these Terms, misrepresentation of site conditions, or safety concerns.
Policy Updates
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. These Terms may be updated without notice. The version in effect at the time an order is placed governs that order.
