KILN REPAIR & SERVICE

Clay Art Center in Tacoma, Washington has been selling new and used kilns and repairing and rebuilding kilns for decades. We have the expertise and know-how to get the job done right the first time and get you back to firing in no time. We offer full service kiln repair and refurbishment on electric kilns and gas kilns. We are your Skutt repair facility in the NW. We can also service many other kiln brands including Olympic, ConeArt, and more. In many cases we even stock the parts for you to do the job yourself if you feel confident to the task!

The most common types of kiln repairs we do are:

  • Element replacement
  • Thermocouple replacement
  • Relay replacement
  • Firebrick repair
  • Kiln Sitter repair and adjustment

We offer service at our Tacoma store and we are also available to travel for repairs within a reasonable distance from our facility and the I-5 Corridor.

Current Rates:

  • Labor/Drive Time $100/hr
  • Diagnostic $50 (occassionally higher if further diagnostics required)
  • All Parts are priced at Retail rates
  • Warranty Service

If you have a kiln that needs serviced please send photos of the equipment and it's info badge (typically on the control box; has details regarding model #, voltage/phase, serial #, etc.) to kilnrepairs@clayartcenter.net to start the repair process.

Please no equipment drop offs unless approved beforehand.

Repair Terms

“Customer” authorizes Clay Art Center and its employees to operate, test, inspect, disassemble, and reassemble equipment as reasonably necessary for diagnostic and repair purposes. Customer acknowledges that a diagnostic fee is required and due prior to any repair work. Diagnostic fees are non-refundable and apply regardless of repair approval. No repairs beyond diagnostics will be performed without Customer authorization. Authorization may be given verbally, electronically, or in writing.

Customer acknowledges that repair timelines are dependent on parts availability and supplier transit times, which are outside the control of Clay Art Center. Delays related to parts sourcing or shipping do not constitute breach of service or grounds for cancellation of diagnostic fees. Clay Art Center shall not be liable for loss, theft, fire, vandalism, or damage to equipment, parts, or accessories, including but not limited to damage occurring during handling, testing, storage, or delivery, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Customer is responsible for providing accurate contact information. Clay Art Center will make reasonable, good-faith attempts to notify Customer using the information provided.

Payment in full, or valid credit card information, is required prior to release of equipment. Completed repairs must be picked up within 10 business days of notification of completion. If repairs are declined, equipment must be picked up within 5 business days of notification. Customer authorizes disposal of replaced or faulty parts unless otherwise requested in writing prior to repair. Equipment left for more than 60 days after notification of completion or repair declination will be deemed abandoned. Clay Art Center may dispose of or sell abandoned equipment to recover unpaid charges, including diagnostic, repair, and storage fees, without further notice or liability.
