There is really nothing blue about this glaze. “Black Hairs Fur” would be a more realistic name/description.

Blue Hares Fur needs heavy application to show off it’s colors and flow. Without that it will maintain a dark iron heavy color without much reticulation. For most of our Craftsman Series we recommend 3 thick/heavy coats of glaze if brushing.

I really love this glaze. It has taken some trial and error both with my firing schedule and glaze application but man, when you get it right this is such an interesting and fun glaze. My latest piece came out a deep brown-green where it was thinner, with beautiful bluish purplish hues where I got the thickness right.

Interestingly (to me) I’ve noticed the interior of pieces like mugs get a really uniform blue/purple situation while I’ve yet to achieve the same level of uniformity on the exterior.

Anywho this is my alternative to black, I love it, don’t even get me started on layering potential, glhf <3

I use this glaze at my local studio, and it is one of my favorites. I like it as a base, with a lighter accent along the rim. It gives a nice deep speckled blue.
