This Porcelain is formulated with a New Zealand Kaolin, it’s very white and vitreous. This is our whitest cone 6 Porcelain. Translucency comes through even on thicker walled pieces. Also a popular sculptural body.

I have tried about 10 porcelain clays to enable me to sculpt in a cone 6 porcelain and then use classic china paints. NZ 6 is the best of them all. It is moderately easy to sculpt, fires white, vitrifies at cone 6, and in a unglazed state it can be china painted on without the dreaded ‘mildew’ effect. The only setbacks are: sculpting large is difficult, and needs a tender drying approach in sizes that cause cracking due to high shrinkage.
