Underglazes

Clay Art Center is a leading producer of quality and highly pigmented ceramic underglazes in the Northwest. We also stock several of the national brands including Amaco and Mayco.

Underglazes are typically applied to leather hard greenware or bisqued pieces. They are typically opaque and have a very matte surface when fired without a clear glaze covering it. Any food or mouth contact surfaces should have a clear glaze or other suitable glaze applied over underglaze decoration.
